It's Stormy Outside

Tonight I had my touch football grandfinal but before that we had a big storm which cleared for the game, I found this rainbow in my backyard.

Aren't they just magic!
We lost the grandfinal though! it was a very close good game though.

The Vegie Patch

So as mentioned in an earlier blog entry when we got our new back fence I said I wanted a vegie patch. On friday afternoon I got home from work to a surprise as T had brought all the materials to build it! So on Saturday morning we got up early (when the soil got delivered) went out for our usual breakfast before voting then headed back home to build the patch.

We used treated pine as a frame purchased from bunnings

Three layers of pine, then we lined it with plastic so that the treatment in the pine
wouldn't hurt the soil, so much soil was shovelled.

The herbs and vegetables, I decided with a variety, Rosemary, Thyme, Mint, Basil (spicy and sweet), Lettuce, Dutch Carrots, Snow Peas, and Chilli all from Bunnings.

The finished product (looking a little droopy I'm hoping they pep up soon)

In the afternoon I decided to paint our old back door it had paint peeling everywhere, so after a light sand I painted it white, it's something we won't keep once we renovate but it needed to be jazzed up a little. These two kept me company.

Art Journaling

Since I finished University I have tried to stay motivated in my art making practice as I'm not always teaching it and surrounding myself in it. I sometimes feel like I'm forgetting important things when I start teaching other subjects, just one joy of casual teaching. As a motivation this time last year I enrolled in an Art Journal class put together by the Red Velvet girls Elsie and Rachel. I really enjoyed it but once it was over I again lost my inspiration. So as a challenge for myself on my 25th birthday along with starting this blog I decided to start an art journal of every day this year, I still had a beautiful leather journal that I purchased 2 years ago in LA so it's a good reason to use it. Today I counted the pages and I'm going to be 100 short so if I miss a day here and there it's not going to really matter. Here's some pages out of my Journal.

I like to think if I do this everyday I am living creatively

What do you do to stay creative?

A lovely afternoon

This afternoon I babysat my nieces Millie and Blair while my sister and brother inlaw went to visit a friend. Somehow I managed to lock the three of us out of the house! Luckily we all had a biscuit and Millie had her cabbage patch to keep us entertained.
We even created some new games. Whatever I would do with Blair, Millie would do with Margie (the cabbage patch doll), like bouncing the babies on the front step.

An hour later my sister returned with my house keys, honestly though I think I might lock us out again it was fun! Before that we visited Toby's sisters new place which they are currently renovating it was inspiring! I want to start ours :)
Do you like these photos? They were taken on my new favourite iphone app Pictureshow.

Starlette Crown

My second last present from Toby arrived today and I think it may be my most exciting one from him! It's a starlette crown from Giant Dwarf I've wanted one for soooo long! this is how it arrived

and this is it on (after a full days work not styled whatsoever hehe)

Sue (the creative lady that made it) wrote Toby a sweet message too, she said stay fancy! I hope she thought he was going to wear it hahaha

I first saw it on my favourite blogger elsiecake,  Kat Von D also has one to.

Thankyou Toby I love it nearly as much as I love you

Music Festivals

Yesterday I went to Future Music festival with Toby and some friends, it's a festival I'd never been to before so I was unsure what to expect. Some festival's I've been to before are the Big Day Out, Groovin the Moo, Homebake, Funk n Grooves, The Great Escape, Parklife, and Good Vibrations. It's probably was one of the better festival's I've been to. We opted to buy more expensive VIP tickets where we got a separate area and bar but honestly it was quicker to get drinks from the normal bar, I wouldn't pay the extra for these tickets again.

Some of the band highlights of the day were Art vs Science, Dizzie Rascal, Mark Ronson and the business intl, Chemical brothers and my all time favourite live band, The Presets.

The sun stayed out and it wasn't too hot! Overall it was a really fantastic day!

The Back Fence

Last week our back fence looked like this (bodged up so the dogs couldn't excape)

This week it looks like this

It's a massive improvement and the first thing that we've actually paid someone to do and it means I can now put in a vegie patch.

Look what I got in the post today!

I was so excited when I got home from work today there was not one package but two! One was addressed to Toby though (I knew it was a late birthday present so I had to wait patiently until he got home from work) I sent him my favourites list off etsy the week before my birthday and this is what arrived for me

Its a Modern baby owl clock which is made out of bamboo,  its by Decoylab and I have honestly been eyeing it off for some time, I was so happy. This also arrived

I found him at the Erina craft markets recently but I didn't buy him so after searching I found him on etsy and I brought him, sadly I purchased him as a gift so he won't be staying here for long you can buy one just like him from The hare and the tortoise

If you don't know me you wouldn't know I am an etsy addict and I often lead people to become addict's so before you check out etsy beware you may become an addict to.
(Etsy has the most amazing things and really clever people making them)

Enjoy xo

Autumn

I love Autumn, I don't believe it's here already. What I like about it most is that I know winter is coming (I am saying this currently in my air-conditioned house it was hot today!). I had a really bad day this week and today was only slightly better but I'm not going to make this post a miserable one! I thought I'd share my goals for Autumn:
1. Work out more
2. Try out some new recipes
3. Walk the dogs every day
4. Create a vegie patch (I need to research what I can plant this time of year)
5. Spend more time with my gorgeous nieces
6. Write more letters (especially to my little sister who moved far away a few weeks ago)
7. Do something creative everyday, or at least think about it and keep a journal of those thoughts so I don't forget them!
8. Make time for the important people in my life and do fun things with them.
9. Save, save, save, for all the renovations and holidays I'm dreaming about!
10. Make my blog a happy place to visit.

What are some of your goals for Autumn????
